Meet Your Dentist in Wilmington, DE
Margaret Schmitt, DMD
Soon after graduating from Brandywine High School in 1983, Peggy Schmitt and her friend Patrick Wahl discussed career choices with Dr. Mervin and Mrs. Joy Wahl. Mrs. Wahl talked about what a wonderful profession dentistry was and that since Peggy loved science, it might be a good fit. While attending Boston University, Peggy's father unfortunately lost his job at Hercules Incorporated, which motivated Peggy to apply early to dental school and save the tuition. She did well enough to be accepted to Temple University School of Dental Medicine, skipping her senior year of college. During her senior year of dental school, she was selected to be a student teacher for freshman and junior dental students. After graduating from dental school, Dr. Peggy completed a general practice residency in 1991 at the Medical Center of Delaware (now Christiana Care Health Services) and has been with Wahl Family Dentistry ever since. Her articles have been published in a number of dental publications. She is also involved in politics and was a candidate for US Congress in 1992 and a candidate for Delaware State House in 1996.
Dr. Peggy loves the outdoors and has hiked the mountain ranges of Washington, Utah, Arizona, Nevada, Georgia, Alabama, Tennessee, and Virginia. She considers scaling Angel's Landing in Zion National Park (Utah) to be her greatest personal achievement. Dr. Peggy also enjoys restoring old homes, playing with her daughters (Zoe, 5 and Grace, 3), and providing her patients with beautiful, strong, life-changing dentistry.
